One Week in Quarantine

I’ve been failing at quarantine. At least I did last week. It wasn’t because I was sequestered at home. I’m an introvert. I was built for these moments.

Instead, where I failed was that I was obsessed with reading the news (and there’s so much of it). I consumed just about every article from around the world. This is all that I did all day for about a week.

As expected, this wasn’t a great way to spend time. None of the news is good. It’s impossible to absorb that much negative news without it having an effect, especially the pieces about the hospitality industry.

This week, I’ve vowed to do something different. So far, I’m off to a good start. It started yesterday when I chatted with some friends on a WhatsApp video while drinking a glass of rosé, then I gave myself a facial, then joined the DJ Dnice party on his IG live and finished up with Questlove’s vintage reggae set at the after-party. It was a great day. I felt good again. This morning I woke up at 4:30 am and read something positive before swinging back into my routine.

I’m not sure why this crisis is happening and I know that there are more changes ahead, but even in these uncertain times, we can still find joy. In these uncertain times, we must find joy.

With that being said, I’m off to go and workout.
