Getaway Atlanta with Soho House

“Are you sleeping?” he asked.

It was 3 am and I was definitely sleeping.

The queen bed in the tiny cabin in the middle of the woods was way more comfortable than I could have asked for.

Maybe he was awake because we went to sleep a little after 9 pm (completely wiped out after cooking dinner over a fire). Either way, we were now both awake. I’d dragged him on this trip, so I felt obligated to keep him company in the middle of the night. He was amusing himself by scribbling “help” on the mist that formed on the massive window. We ending up curling up together and telling scary stories as we stared at the trees. Some time after a few kids were trapped in a classroom with no way to get out, we fell back asleep.

It was a great way to spend our first night at Getaway’s Atlanta outpost in Suches, GA. We’d taken the two-hour drive for the Soho House Weekenders trip. While unplugging is a central tenet of Getaway’s mission, I was equally as happy to have others to connect with. Great connections have been hard to come by this year and I’ve missed that.

After two days, smores were roasted, cocktails were drank, woodpeckers were spotted, stories were told and most importantly old and new friendships were enjoyed. My heart was full.

Here are a few snaps from the weekend.
